Massive data reduction in scene scanning

Objective:
The result of the digital image processing is that the points which generate the outline of the robot have been stored and all the other points have been removed. From the image below one can see that this produces a clear outline of the robot, which makes the task of translating the robot model to the correct position a great deal easier.
